These 1 year (7822) courses are suitable for the novice, or the student with some knowledge of painting who wishes to progress and expand their skills and creative ideas. Both courses are awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Design and Craft. These are awarded on the work carried out throughout the year. There is no final exam.

The Unit 1 is Design for Craft (in this case painting, although it could be ceramics or textiles for instance) and will usually take 15 hours out of the 3 term year. This is to give the student a good knowledge of colour, line and mark making, shape and form and surface textures. This will incorporate the use of other mediums. Unit 2 is the Craft or painting section in either Watercolour or Oil, depending on which the student enrols for and will cover all aspects of these mediums.
