Reimagining the Greenways

April 2016 – May 2016

Working with Plaistow South Big Local, children from Kaizen and Tollgate Primary, we facilitated engagement with creative thinking and practical activities. Inspiration was taken from the nearby Greenway, and the sessions experimented with 2D design and 3D design.

The programme ran in six-week blocks as an after-school project, between 10 and 18 children attended each session led by Kikis Leventis, a local artist and Finnish ceramicist Pauliina Pollanen, a former artist in residence at the V&A.

Children were encouraged to discuss their ideas and and visualise their ‘Greenway’ through sketching to develop themes for the models and the final outcomes were imaginative ceramic renderings.

The project was well received by the young participants and myself and Kikis agreed the final creative output was excellent.
