The Young Newham Artists (YNAs) is a project for 16-24 year olds from Newham. This program aims to support young people through giving them skills, experience and qualifications that will help prepare them for higher education and/or employment in the creative industries.
There will be a drop in session on Thursday 1st September to find out more details and sign up for the project. You can also sign up for it now at the Rosetta Art Centre main office.
Start Date: January 2012
Course Length: Ten weeks, two evenings per week plus three full day sessions in February half term.

Course cost: FREE
On this 10 week project you will:
- Get two Level 3 qualifications (ABC Awards in Visual Thinking and )
- Work in the Rosetta Rathbone Art Studio where you will receive mentoring from our resident artists.
- Work on an Adobe Youth Voices project where you will get training in Adobe Photoshop and Preview before developing and producing a media art piece that uses still and moving images.
- Have the opportunity to undertake a commissioning project where you will produce an artwork for a local business according to their brief. This is a great experience that allows you to learn skills such as dealing with clients, negotiation and working to a brief.
- Opportunities to have your work publicly exhibited.
By the end of the project you will have:
- Gained two Level 3 qualifications.
- Contributed to making a multimedia (film and photography) art piece.
- Gained new skills in Adobe computer software.
- Gained a unique experience as part of this special project which will help your application to higher education and/or employment in the creative industries.
Course level and skills required:
This course is open to 16-18 year olds that live in Newham and have an interest in visual arts. Acceptance on to the program is subject to an informal meeting where we would like to view some examples of your creativity. This could be any textiles, fashion, drawing, painting, photography or other art medium that you have done.

Rosetta Art Centre offers more comprehensive Level 3 courses in Painting, Ceramics, Photography, Fashion, and Textiles.
